August Technique Class – Vintage Leaves Embossed

By | August 13, 2015

Last night was my technique class and I wanted to share my favourite Technique card with you.  This card was a labour of love if ever there was one!!

Stampin Up Vintage Leaves-001

I’d seen a card by Margaret Raeburn on Pinterest that I really liked and I wanted to recreate a similar version for my Technique Class with an Autumnal feel.  Writing this blog post was the first time I actually searched for Margaret’s blog, so I was unsure how she actually created her version.   My first attempts involved scribbling on the embossing folder with markers before spritzing.  I didn’t like the effect and a few sheets of watercolour paper later, I tried sponging – much better!

Unlike Margaret’s card, I preferred the effect when the paper was actually embossed too with the honeycomb pattern.

My colours are Cajun Craze, Always Artichoke and Crushed Curry – my VERY FIRST time using Always Artichoke in either cardstock or ink!!!  (Do you have a colour you rarely use?)

I’ve embossed two of the leaves from the Vintage Leaves set in gold; one on vellum (sponged in Cajun Craze) and one on Always Artichoke.  These are cut with the matching framelits and the smallest one is cut from Gold Glimmer paper.  One of our beautiful gold metallic buttons finishes off the card with some threads unravelled from the Burlap ribbon.

Hope you liked today’s card, if you did, leave me a comment, it’s always lovely to hear from you.

Here is a link with all the details you will need on the products used.  You may notice a rogue product – the washi tape!! This is our Colour me Autumn washi tape which is now retired – however, if you’re quick, you will find it on our Clearance rack for just £1.79 for three delicious co-ordinating rolls.  Have a look at our other bargains when you are there and don’t forget the Weekly Deals.
