I’ve joined the smooshing revolution!!

Well, it was only a matter of time before I had to give this smooshing malarkey a go!!  Have you heard of it?  Here is the effect…

Stampin Up Vintage Leaves smooshing-001

I’ve seen various methods but here is how I smooshed! I must thank Kim Fee of Simply Fairies for explaining the process to me as I received a gorgeous Christmas themed swap from her and wanted to know her smooshing method. I laminated a piece of card (you could use any flat wipeable surface – such as a plate or even a stamp case) and pressed my ink pad directly onto it. I then spritzed this piece of laminated cardstock with water. Taking a small piece of window sheet, I lifted the colour and pressed it directly onto my chosen piece of cardstock. The two colours I’ve used are Old Olive and Crushed Curry.

I then let the cardstock dry before I stamped my sentiment from Perfect Pennants and my leaves from Vintage Leaves in Soft Suede. A few gold sequins finished off my card, and I mounted it on Soft Suede and then Old Olive.

The only thing to be careful of is not going to close to the edge of your piece of acetate otherwise you end up with a straight line – but that may well be the effect you want… who knows?

This was one of my cards in my Tehcnqiue class this month, we also created a card using a much brighter palette which I will share with you another day.

Do let me know if you give it a try – it’s a great way to create an interesting background and each card you create is completely individual.

Here is everything I used on this card.
