Stamp in Colour August Technique Class

By | August 13, 2014

We had our August Technique class last night and it was a little bit messy!!

We had fun creating interesting backgrounds with our  blocks and, would you believe it… shaving foam!

Stampin Up Ink Marbling Technique August 2014-001

To create this marbled background, you just add a few drops of different coloured inks into a plate of shaving foam and then swirl it around (a very therapeutic part of the process!). Take a piece of whisper white card stock and press it into the foam ensuring all of the card is touching the foam.  Then, you simply lift it out and scrape the foam off and you are left with this interesting background.

The colour and intensity of the background colour will depend on how many drops you put in, how many of each colour and how much you mix it.  The beauty of this technique is every time you try this technique, the end result will be different.

I also used our brand new Little Letter Framelits for the ‘Hi’ and our Itty Bitty Accents Punches to create the pretty little flowers.

Our next background technique is a really simple technique but so effective.  I love the effect it creates and it just looks so much more complicated than it really is.

Stampin Up Block background Technique August 2014-001

Take a block of your choice and simply scribble directly onto it with your Stampin’ Write markers. For the first card, I used Calypso Coral, Crumb Cake and Wild Wasabi. I then spritzed the block with water and stamped it directly onto a piece of Whisper White. It needs a little time to dry and I then stamped the flower from A Happy Hooray in Black Stazon and also my sentiment.

My next card was done in exactly the same way, just with a different shaped block and different colours. The colours used were Bermuda Bay, Tempting Turquoise, Pool Party and Soft Sky. I used the Feather stamp – again from A Happy Hooray. The Pool Party Bakers Twine is unfortunately now retired, however we do have a Bermuda Bay version available.

Don’t forget our fabulous Big Shot promotion, it only lasts until August 31st, so don’t miss out as the savings are incredible, read more about it here.

Here is what you will need to recreate the cards, there is a rather large list of supplies but I have grouped them per card, so hope that helps a bit!
