March Scrapbooking Global Blog Hop – Mixed Media

By | March 21, 2019

This month our theme with the Scrapbooking Global team is to create a Mixed Media Scrapbook page. You may have arrived from the lovely Liz Yuille, or this may well be your first stop on today’s Scrapbook Hop but either way, you are very welcome with me, Eimear Carvill, a Stampin’ Up demonstrator in the UK.  I have to admit, I hadn’t really a clue what Mixed Media  involved and had to check if I was on the right track (thanks Sharon) but I also have to admit, I grew to love this theme. There will definitely be more of this style on my pages in the future as it’s such fun.

My little boy still creeps up to our bed occasionally in the wee hours of the night and this is the cheeky grin I’m met with in the morning! I had to capture it and create a page!

Tips and Tricks for my Mixed Media Scrapbook Page

  • First of all I made a background with the smooshing technique.  This involves inking a piece of acetate and spritzing it with water – then ‘smooshing’ it on the cardstock.  Generally, watercolour card or shimmery cardstock is ideal for this technique as it absorbs more water without damaging the card. However, I don’t have it in 12 x 12 so I risked it with normal cardstock.  Anywhere where there was an effect I wasn’t happy with, I covered with embossing paste or stamped images as a disguise!
  • Speaking of embossing paste, I added some Champagne Shimmer paint to it and used the Pattern Party Decorative Masks to make an interesting textured background.
  • I took several of the Timeless Textures stamps and used either Balmy Blue or Smoky Slate ink to tie in with the colours in the photo.
  • I took a tiny paintbrush, dipping it in the Shimmer Paint and splattered some it here and there.
  • The die-cut leaves were also painted with shimmer paint for a bit more sparkle.
  • My journaling is hidden behind my photo with a pull out tag.
