Welcome everyone to our Blog Hop for March.  You may have arrived from Pip’s blog and if so, a very warm welcome to you. This month our theme is Masking and I’ve added my own Easter theme as we are so close to Easter Sunday.

My first card is quite a classic, clean and simple card, using our ready-made notelet sets.  These are a great size and very handy for one layer cards like I made here. I’ve used my oval framelits to cut an oval shape out of a piece of scrap paper which I’ve used as a mask and through which I’ve stamped using my Hardwood stamp in Crumb cake and sponged in crumb cake.

I’ve then stamped a few flowers in my favourite Easter colours of Wisteria Wonder and So Saffron using the Petite Petals set and matching punch.  I also punched out a few ‘leaves’ in Pear Pizazz using the little flower punch from the Itty Bitty Accent punch set.  My greeting is stamped in Wisteria Wonder and comes from the Indescribable Gift stamp set and is punched out with the Modern Label punch.  I thought my flowers needed a little extra so I’ve used the smallest pearls from our Basic pearl jewels.

Onto my second card which is a more fun Easter card, one that I would enjoy making with my children – though they were fast asleep in bed when I came up with this card!  I’ve called it my Secret Easter Garden card!

I used my oval framelits again to cut the top half of the door.  To only partially cut an oval shape, you only put the cutting plate over the section you wish to cut, leaving the rest of the framelit uncovered.  This will only cut the top arc.  I then took my Stampin’ trimmer and used the cutting blade on the right hand side down from the edge of the arc down to the bottom edge, and the scoring blade on the left hand side down to the bottom edge to make the door.

I’ve then used every stampers favourite masking tool, the good old post-it/sticky note to mask off the ‘hedge’ section leaving only the door exposed and as with my last card, I’ve stamped my door using the Hardwood stamp in crumb cake, sponging over it in Crumb cake.  I’ve then removed my post-its from the hedge and this time covered up my door with my trusty post-its.  I’ve then stamped my leaves in Wild Wasabi and added a few flowers in various colours from the Brights collection in Daffodil Delight, Melon Mambo, Rich Razzleberry and Pumpkin Pie.  These were punched with the flower punch from the Itty Bitty Accents as in my last card and finished off with some pearls.  My door has a door knocker from the Antique Brads.

Onto the inside!

Firstly a strip of Wild Wasabi cut with the Fringe Scissors makes a great little strip of grass for my Easter Bunny to dance on.  I’ve used my Basic Black stampin’ write marker to isolate the Bunny from the Happy Easter Bunny Set.  I decided not to use the whole image and just isolate the Happy Easter greeting stamping it just above the bunny.  He’s coloured in using Smoky Slate, Melon Mambo and Pink Pirouette and my Blender pens.

A final embellishment using the Owl punch and the same four colours as my outside flowers finished off my card.  The owl punch is a really versatile punch.  I held off buying it for a long time as I didn’t know how often I would actually make an owl.  I’ve probably only made 4 or 5 owls since I purchased it, however, it is one of my most used punches as you have 3 different sized circles, the gorgeous little heart, the owl shape itself which can translate itself to so many different animal shapes – it really is a fabulous punch!

Don’t forget there are just three days left of Sale-a-bration.  This means any purchase of £45 earns you a free Sale-a-bration product.  If you’ve ever wondered about joining up as a demonstrator, these last three days are the perfect time, read more about Sale-a-bration here.
