Stampin' Up Something for Baby Tutorial 13-001

Thanks Dana for commenting and just for you – and Eileen too – here is the tutorial.

I will warn you in advance, this is a pretty picture heavy post so bear with me!  But I hope that it explains exactly how to recreate the card.

Firstly cut your whisper white almost like a standard A6 card but leave one side a little longer – depending on how large you want your pop-up section to be. Then score this piece as a valley fold on the edge of the A6 card and a mountain fold exactly in the middle of your longer piece as shown.

Using your stamp-a-ma-jig, stamp the babygrow from Something for Baby in the top right hand corner. Put the sleeves of the baby grow in the right angle of the card.

Next, take your Big Shot, your circle framelits, and the Baby First framelits which co-ordinate with the stamps from the Something for Baby set (and are also available as a bundle with 15% off!!) Place the circle over the left hand corner and the babygrow framelit over the stamped image on the right hand side.

Place the acrylic plate over the framelits but ONLY HALFWAY.

When you pass the cardstock through the Big Shot, it will only cut where there is sufficient pressure from the plates.  This will leave the bottom half without the top plate uncut.

Use your trimmer to cut the remaining piece of cardstock between the die-cut babygrow and circle.

Then again using your stamp-a-ma-jig, stamp the ducks from the Something for Baby set, with the bottom of the ducks sitting right on the fold of your longer section. Using the same principle as before, and using the Baby First duck framelit, leave the bottom of the duck uncovered while passing it through the Big Shot.  This will cause the ducks to pop up when the card is folded.

Next, die-cut three circles from whisper white cardstock and three circles from Silver Fancy Foil Designer Vellum.

Adhere your vellum circles to your cardstock circles using glue dots where the silver pattern is.  Stamp It’s a Boy or It’s a Girl from A Dozen Thoughts on one of the circles.

I used Soft Sky or Pink Pirouette but embossing the sentiments in silver would probably have been better in hindsight!

Heat emboss ‘Celebration’ from the Project Life set Remember This – remembering to first wipe your cardstock with the embossing buddy. This will ensure that your embossing powder only sticks to your versamark and not to any fingerprints that may be on your cardstock.

And that is pretty much it! I attached my vellum balloons to the card embellishing with some white Bakers twine to make it look like my balloons were tied together.  I cut off the overlapping portion of the top balloon with my scissors to create a clean edge and to ensure that it would fit snugly into a standard envelope.

Do leave me a comment if you have any questions. I do hope my tutorial is clear but am happy to explain any step further should you wish me to.

Here is everything I used to make my card.

Until next time, happy crafting

    Eimear,
Just love your card and hope I can reproduce it with the help of your tutorial. Could you give me more exact measurements please – in metric if possible? I am an Australian Demo.
    Thanks so much,
    Jenny

Jenny, I believe your A4 card stock measures the same as in the UK i.e. 297mm x 210mm.
So you are creating a standard A6 card except one side has a longer portion. My card using the duck dies measured 156.5cm on one side, so 8cm longer. However, it depends if you were using other dies, you may want to make this portion bigger. Then score at the edge of the card and in the middle of this portion. So I scored mine on the edge and 4cm into the extra portion.
      Enjoy!
