Today, I’m joining some wonderful demonstrators around the world in a hop organised by the very lovely Jennifer Frost. In today’s hop, we hope to show you some thrifty tips for using scraps and ideas for frugal crafting. I’m so excited to see what everyone has come up with.
You may have arrived from Sherry Espinoza’s blog, or this may well be your first stop but either way you are very welcome. You have arrived at Stampincolour with Eimear Carvill, a Stampin’ UP demonstrator based in the gorgeous Cotswolds in the UK.
My tip for you today involves our Whisper White and Very Vanilla cardstock. With all other coloured cardstock, I don’t keep scraps unless they are bigger than 2 inches/5cm thick however I keep much smaller pieces of Whipser White and Very Vanilla. Most of us chop these colours up for card fronts and we are left with strips – what do you with yours? Do you use them or chuck them?
I keep mine and keep them ready for sentiments that are smaller fonts and written on one line. Rather than stamp my sentiment and then try to cut around them, I have my strips ready and waiting. Both my cards today use the fabulous Colourful Seasons bundle found in the Annual catalogue.
Colourful Seasons Christmas Card
My first card is a wintry Christmas card where I have used a very subtle Soft Sky Watercolour wash as a backdrop to my die-cut snowflakes. This is a really quick and easy card to create when you need to make multiples coming up to Christmas.
I have heat embossed the Sentiment from Star of Light in silver and it just fits perfectly on those leftover strips.
Next up is similar styled card with a more Autumnal feel. My garden is starting to fill with crunchy fallen leaves and that led to the inspiration for today’s card. Again, my ready-made strip sped up the preparation for this card – every little helps!
Colourful Seasons Autumn Card
I hope I have given you some inspiration on using your scraps and leftover pieces. Please hop on over to the lovely Susan Wong. I can’t wait to see what tips she has for us today.
As always here is list of everything I used on my project today.
This month’s Rainbow Rewards host code is DAPUXZUX. Use this code at checkout if your order is between £25-£150 to receive a free gift in the post from me.
Until next time, happy crafting

Thank you for sharing. Your cards are beautiful. I never keep tiny scraps. I sure am going to reconsider now.
Thank you Eva, I probably don’t keep them all – otherwise I’d need to move house!! However I do keep a lot, and they do come in useful and stop you cutting up a new sheet for something small.
Your cards are so beautiful. Love the snowflake card.
Thank you so much Gwen
Lovely cards, love the colour combinations. Thanks for sharing 😊
Thanks Verity
Lovely cards Eimear, I love the snowflake themed cards for Christmas, even though I live in Australia, and we have a hot christmas, there is something about the wintery scenes. Great tip as well.
We might be Northern Hemisphere but we never get snow at Christmas either, in fact my 5 year old has never seen snow – we remain ever hopeful though!
What a great idea to have those strips waiting for you to stamp on at your convenience! Both of the cards you have shared with us today are beautiful! 💖
Every little helps as I never have the luxury of time when making a card!
I keep mine in a little basket in my desk drawer and when I need a small piece, I pull one out. Great tip, and beautiful cards! I love the colorful seasons set! So versatile!
Thanks – I love that set too
YES!! Love this tip – I do the exact same ALL the time. They are already precut just the perfect strip sentiment size.
Sure helps when in a crazy rush to have something pre-prepared!
Great tip! I forgot about that one, and sadly, I always feel the need to cut up more. I’ll have to remember to haul those out.
The hop is full of great tips today – some I forgot about too!
Great tip Eimear. I keep my thin offcuts for the exact same reason.
Thanks Tanya – it all helps!
