As promised, I am back with a look at the cards we made in my recent Technique class. This month, one of the cards we made was a Stair Step card. I saw an example of this style of card on a Youtube video by Amy Celona and wanted to make my own version. It is not as complicated as it looks and is perfect for the Holiday Home stamp set. The sentiment I used is now retired but some of the sentiments in Mingle all the Way would fit – though I don’t have this set… yet!
I stamped in Lost Lagoon and couldn’t resist a bit of extra sparkle with some Silver Embossing and Dazzling Diamonds for snow.
You can see how the card actually works from the side view.
Excuse my dark photo, the weather has been so dreary here, it’s hard to take a decent photo!
I also made a Early Espresso/Gold version which I am equally fond of – remember I said I couldn’t decide which one I would do on the night?
This was my second choice. This time I stamped in Soft Suede and sponged the edges with Crumb Cake to give it a slightly vintage look. All the Christmas sparkle was added with Gold Embossing.
And again, a side view so you can see how the card works.
I hope you like today’s cards. Let me know which one you prefer – I find it hard to opt for one as despite using the same supplies, the colours change the look and feel of the card completely.
As always here is a supply list, should you wish to purchase anything from my online shop.
Do you have measurements to share for this beautiful house Christmas card? Thanks,
Maria
Hi Maria, I don’t have the exact measurements as I actually sent this card out. However, I followed a Youtube video by Amy Celona, for the basic construction of the card. She used different stamp sets to me, so I tweaked her measurements basically to fit my stamp with the verse on the left hand side of the card. Not sure if that helps or not? Let me know if you need any further info…
I love this card. The two colors together are beautiful. Do you have instructions on how to do this card? Can’t tell by the photo but does this card fit in a regular envelope or does it require a special size? Love It!!!
Hello, I followed the YouTube video by Amy Celona but I may have altered it slightly to fit a regular UK envelope. Are you in the UK?
Eimear, both cards are so lovely! I can’t pick just one color choice so I’ll being doing both. I think this would also make a wonderful “welcome to the neighborhood” card, with proper sentiments of course. Thanks so much for sharing with the rest of us!
What a great idea, Debbie!
