Welcome to the February Blog Hop for the Scrapbooking Global team where I have the honour of being the Guest Designer. I got to choose the theme and with Valentines Day being in February, I opted to make a Love and Marriage Scrapbook page.
For those of you who know me you will know that this page is very special to me as I lost both my parents within 4 months last year. I had been wanting to make a special page in their honour and this was just the push I needed. I think I was putting it off in case I felt it too emotional but preserving their memory in this way has been very therapeutic.
.
My sister scanned some of their wedding photos and emailed them to me. They were copies of the original photos so not all of them printed very well. I decided to print this particular photo quite large and make it the focal point of my page.
My Aunt was their bridesmaid and her dress was a dead ringer for Pear Pizzazz , hence my colour choice for the top and bottom piece.
Tips and Tricks for using the Die
- The thinlit for these pieces, the Detailed Floral Thinlit Die, is just under 4 inches wide. I lined it up carefully beside the first cut out and then I cut out for a second and then a third time. If you look closely you can see the repeat. It’s not obvious at first, so I’m happy with that.
- I then went back over with the die that cuts the edge and repeated for the three cuts.
- I had to be careful with the join and sometimes help a little at the join with my Paper Snips.
The bouquet from the Wonderful Romance bundle is so beautiful, I heat embossed it in White on Vellum. I coloured in the greenery with Pear Pizzazz on the back side. It gives a beautifully soft ethereal feel.
The letters in Make A Difference are the same font as the text in Love What You Do. The date just blends in beautifully with the sentiment.
So I hope you like my Love and Marriage Scrapbook page and that it inspires you to scrap some old photos of your own. Do hop on to Lisa by clicking on the link below and see what the whole hop have been inspired to create this month.
