I saw the most beautiful Christening card by my fellow Stampin’ Creative teamie Mikaela Titheridge (The Crafty Oink Pen) and I just had to case it. You can see her original card here, isn’t it absolutely beautiful? I needed a Christening card today and with Mikaela’a permission I made a boy version with In the City.
Mikaela used the gorgeous Hometown Greetings edgelit dies but I’ve used the church from In the City.
This is a 60 piece (!!) host stamp set and has lots of different buildings and vehicles; from churches to ice-cream vans, trees, bushes etc there is no end to the scenes you can create!
Tips and Tricks for my In the City card
- Part emboss your Whisper White layer with the Sparkle embossing folder – by association it looks very much like a cross
- Cover the end of your embossed section with some ribbon – the ribbon I’ve used here is unfortunately retired… but believe me there are several substitutes in the catalogues!
- Add a little dimension by raising the stamped element with dimensionals.
I used a little tag from the Wood Crate frame lit and, due to a lack of christening stamps in my collection, I improvised for my sentiment! I’ve used ‘This is the Day’ from Tabs for Everything but only used the ‘This’ and the ‘Day’. I then stamped ‘Blessed’ from the Christmas set ‘Wonderful Life’ on a tiny scrap and raised it on dimensionals for a little visual interest.
Of course, I used Soft Sky as my base and paired it with a hint of Smoky Slate – my all time favourite neutral!
I hope you liked today’s card and I hope I did Mikaela’s original card justice – she also made some gorgeous co-ordinating projects which were just amazing!

And finally, here is everything I used to make today’s card. It is a little product heavy due to my lack of appropriate sentiments – something I must remedy soon!
Until next time, happy crafting
