I was honoured to be asked to be this month’s guest designer for CAS Colours and Sketches. This week’s challenge was a Colour challenge and uses three of Stampin’ Up’s retiring in-colours.
This challenge screamed florals to me and though I would normally avoid doing the ‘obvious’, I really wanted to use a set called Best Thoughts that I only recently acquired. It is retiring at the end of the month and this was the first time this set has seen ink. However, after using it for this challenge, it certainly won’t be the last! It is just perfect for a watercolour project.
So without further ado, here are this month’s colours as set by Caroline.
And here is the card I came up with.
The colours are quite autumnal but I wanted to try and make my card seem a little more summery and I think having a range of shades using the aqua painter has achieved that. It’s a little difficult to see in the photo, but I coloured the stamens in Hello Honey and then watercoloured the flower in Tangelo Twist and the leaves in Mossy Meadow. The butterfly is also watercoloured in both Hello Honey and Tangelo Twist.
I added a few pearls just for a little bit of interest (and to cover a tiny mis-hap but ssshhhh, that’s just between you and me!) then popped the watercolour layer on a base of Mossy Meadow. The shadow caused from our long overdue Spring sunshine makes it look like there is a layer of black, but it’s just a mirage!
I hope my card has given you a bit of inspiration for these three colours so before they leave Stampin’ Up’s current range, why don’t you pull them out and whip up a few cards.
As always, here is everything I used on the card,
Until next time, happy crafting,
Eimear

Lovely to have you GD with us this month at CC&S. What a beauty to kick your GD spot off with too, beautifully stamped and coloured. Hugs Bev x (Apologies for my delay in commenting too)
Eimear, I love this. Your watercolouring is masterful and very beautiful. And the card is so wonderfully CAS. I love that it’s avoiding Autumn (not ready for that yet) and has achieved summer so perfectly. Feel free to send me the card!! Liz x
So glad you are joining us this month! Your card is gorgeous – great job with the colors!
So glad you could join us this month Eimear as our Guest, and I just love your first card, that bloom is such a statement. Your colouring is perfection (nice to hear others have ‘happy mistakes’ and use little cover ups, I’m always doing that)
Louise xx
Oh yes, what is that they say, there are no mistakes in crafting, only opportunities for embellishment!!
We’re so pleased to have you as our guest designer this month Eimear. And such a great first card too! Stef x
Thank you Stef, so pleased you asked 😀
This is a lovely card, Eimear – loving that watercoloured look and subtle use of the colours. The sentiment is lovely too – such a shame that the set is retiring. I have to admit that I don’t even recognise it – I’m off to check the catalogues and to see how I missed it! I’m so pleased you are our Guest Designer this month. Caro x
It’s a hostess set, Caro – and thank you am delighted to be part of CAS this month 😃
Gorgeous card Eimear. Great to have you as Guest Designer at CC&S this month.
Thank you Jane, honoured to have been asked 😀
