I’ve been playing with stripes – my favourite pattern out of the How Sweet it is Designer Series Paper (DSP) – to make up some Birthday cards. I didn’t buy any of the rest of the fabulous co-ordinating suite but I just loved the bright colours in the DSP and finally managed to chop it up instead of just stroking it!!
I tried two different designs and would love to know which one you prefer. To make the first card, I cut a small square and sliced it on the diagonal following the stripes in the DSP. In the first design I turned one triangle the opposite way but placed them both on the left hand side of the card, leaving a wide open space for my punched out sentiment.
For my second design, I cut the DSP the same way but placed it on the white layer as normal and just spread it out leaving a gap of approximately 2.5cm or an inch in old money!
For both cards, I took another pattern of the DSP and fussy cut the sweetie jars. These were mounted on dimensionals and have the sentiment leading from underneath the jar.
The sentiment comes from an Annual Catalogue set called Picture Perfect Birthday – one I come back to again and again. It is stamped in Gorgeous Grape to match the card base.
This DSP is so cute – what child, or let’s face it, adult, could resist those little gummy bears?!
I hope you enjoyed today’s cards, do leave me a comment and let me know which now you prefer
