Welcome to this month’s Stampin’ Creative Blog Hop where our theme is Birthday Bonanza!! It has such a great ring to it and after a very busy few months I am delighted to be able to join you. As always my entry was not without issue where my heat tool seems to have gone AWOL in my recent house move and I had to improvise – but we’ll go into that later lol. Firstly, let me show you how your Christmas supplies can last you all year long with a rich and decadent male card for our Birthday Bonanza!
So without further ado, here is my card to add to the Birthday Bonanza line-up this morning.
I hope I can prove to you that these gorgeous plaid papers will last you long before and long after Christmas – well, depending on how much you use them and there will be plenty of occasions!!
I have to let you into a little secret that I hinted about before. My heat tool has gone walkabout during our house move and being always a Last Minute Lucy I only discovered this yesterday afternoon! Add in a hospital trip for my son, and I was down to the wire for finishing this card. I didn’t want to alter the design and persevered with the heat embossing using a hairdryer and a toaster!! Half an hour later, I have some very dull gold embossing – a proper heat tool is well worth the investment as I would have had shiny embossing in a matter of seconds!
Tips and Tricks for my Birthday Bonanza Male Birthday Cards
- Use a Heat Tool for embossing in gold!
- Alternate the stitched stars between DSP and Gold Foil and also vary the sizes for maximum visual interest
- An extra gold foil banner under the sentiment, just added enough shine to stop my sentiment getting lost in the rich, luxurious colours of the DSP
Aren’t the Stitched Stars fabulous? There are various sized stars that you can layer or use alone, or create outlines – the possibilities are endless! And as for the swirly bits? Gorgeousness!!
I hope you enjoyed my card this morning, do hop on around the rest of the team to see what they came up with. I can’t wait to hop around us all

This card speaks to my heart! I think I will have to duplicate it for a birthday card for my brother next month, as it’s made with the Gordon Tartan Plaid. Love it!
My brother-in-law is Scottish so this is heading straight to him!
I love your card – the DSP makes it so rich . Ideal for a male birthday card
