Hugs from Shelli Alternative Projects – A scrapbook page

By | May 22, 2019

I just received my Hugs from Shelli Paper Pumpkin kit yesterday.  I must admit that I was not expecting to love it as much as I did. For me, this kit is worth it for the stamp set alone and at £20, it’s an absolute bonus to have all the card bases, envelopes, ink spot, adhesive and embellishments included!!  Today, I wanted to show you a Hugs from Shelli alternative project – just an idea of what you can do with the stunning stamps once you have completed your kit.

I’m not sure if this is a global thing, but here we always think of our loved ones who have passed on when we see a white feather.  We used to always say there’s a feather from Grandma every time we saw one.  Now, unfortunately none of their grandparents are with us, so we argue over who sent the feather!! But every time we see feather we do think of their beloved parents and I love that.

There is the most gorgeous feather stamp included in the Hugs from Shelli kit and I’ve been waiting to scrap this photo of my daughter and Grandma’s feather for ages.  I was so delighted to discover the feather stamp yesterday on opening the kit – I had this page whipped up in a flash!

Tips and Tricks for my Hugs From Shelli Alternative Project Scrapbook Page

  • I wanted quite a plain page with the focus being on the photo and the feathers but ripping the edges gave a little bit of visual interest.
  • The Petal Pink page was adhered to the Whisper White 12 x 12 page but not before I stamped some birds and flowers in the corners.
  • The Feathers were stamped in Versamark and embossed in white on vellum to give an ethereal feel to the page.
  • Finally I stamped the little splatters tone on tone in Petal Pink under where my photo will sit.
  • I mimicked the style of the kit by die-cutting a label with the Stitched Nested Label Dies and using a stamp from the new Daisy Lane stamp set.
