Stampin’ Creative Masculine Blog Hop with Mountain Air

By | April 30, 2020

Welcome to this month’s Stampin Creative Blog Hop where this time the team and I have chosen a Masculine theme. I combined this with my own team challenge that we had on a recent Zoom meeting.  Between both challenges, I came up with the following card using the fabulous Mountain Air stamp set.

My sister has been getting up at sunrise every morning for the past few weeks and taking some gorgeous photos.  I think her photos were my main source of inspiration for this project. You can see one of her photos at the end.

My Aces and Diamonds team challenge was as follows; I gave each team member a choice of two options and we then went away and created our cards off-screen.  One super stamper however, (Karen), managed to create her version while we were chatting in the meeting!!  Our chosen consisted of Regals or Subtles, Flora or Fauna, Punches or Dies, Ribbon or Embellishments and finally Glimmer or Foil.

I made my card and posted it on our team page before I realised I had actually missed out the final element – Glimmer Paper!! However, the other elements were all present and correct and I think it ended up a fairly masculine card working for our Stampin’ Creative Blog Hop too.  It was a real challenge not to use the co-ordinating dies for this card – I was so dying to add the die-cut trees.  However, it still works well with the stamped trees too.

The sentiment comes from Morning Star which is unfortunately listed on our Last chance list from the Spring Summer catalogue.  This means it will not feature in the brand new Annual Catalogue and we will say goodbye to it at the end of May.

Tips and Tricks for my Mountain Air Masculine Card

  • I stamped the first Mountain range in Smoky Slate and then stamped the highest peaks immediately without re-inking. This gives the illusion of distance.
  • The closest detailed peaks were then stamped in a darker grey – Basic Grey.
  • The dies would have made easy work of sponging the background – without them you need to fussy cut a mountain range.  This then serves as a mask and you can sponge your sunrise background.
  • Finally a layer of Blushing Bride just made the card pop off the Basic Grey card base – who says you can’t have pink on a male card?!

Until next time, happy crafting
