Scrapbooking Global June Blog Hop – Birthdays and Parties

By | June 20, 2019

The Scrapbooking Global team are back this month and our theme is Birthdays and Parties.  It is sure to be a great theme as it’s an occasion we all want to preserve memories of.  You may have arrived from Cynthia or this may well be your first stop today, but either way you are very welcome with me, Eimear Carvill.  I am a Stampin’ Up demonstrator in Wiltshire UK and am delighted you stopped by today.

My birthday page is a very important one to me as the photos are of my Father’s birthday last year.  He turned 91 and it was a really great day for all our family.  Unfortunately, it was to be his last birthday with us, and the last family birthday that we would celebrate together as both my Mum and Dad passed away later that year. Scrapbooking has become a lot more important to me since then, as a sort of therapy, but also because the photos and memories are all that remain.  I really urge everyone to print out their photos – especially when devices and iCloud etc storing them is never a sure thing!

My page today uses Come Sail Away DSP. It blended well with the colours in the photos and as we also live by the sea, it was very fitting. I’ve used the old Large Number dies with gold foil. I apologise as they are now retired, but I love them so much!

Tips and Tricks for my Birthdays and Parties Scrapbook Page

  • I mounted the photos on a square of Soft Suede.  They looked a little lost so each photo was mounted on Whisper White before adhering to the Soft Suede.
  • One of the Memories and More cards is chopped down to create a tag style element.
  • The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Birthdays and is embossed in gold on vellum.  He really was awesome at any age, or maybe it should say ‘every’ age!
  • I punched the balloons with the Birthday Bouquet punch in gold foil and tied them with our Whisper White Baker’s Twine for a little fun embellishment.
