Lets Get Hopping 31 with Botanical Prints Medley

By | May 18, 2020

Welcome to this month’s Let’ Get Hopping Blog hop where we are sharing our ‘Happy Colour’.  I have to admit my all-time favourite Stampin’ Up Colour may not be perceived as a ‘happy’ colour as such but I just love Smoky Slate.  It makes its way into at least 80% of the cards I create and is my all-time favourite neutral!  It goes so well with Subtles, Regals and Brights – perfect all-rounder and despite being on the muted side, it does make me happy! I’ve teamed it with the Bargain Botanical Prints Medley to make  an elegant yet simple card today.

This was one of the 6 cards in my recent Zoom Botanical Prints Medley class and I have to admit my personal favourite.

Just look at that shimmer…

Tips and Tricks for my Botanical Prints Medley Card

  • I created a subtle background my flicking a Stampin’ Write marker in Smoky Slate all around the top layer.
  • A small strip of Botanical Prints DSP was adhered across the bottom – this was frugally salvaged from an off-cut from one of my other class cards.  This tile pattern is too pretty to waste!
  • The stamp set in the medley contains the most beautiful flower – at this bargain price, it’s worth it for the flower alone!! I stamped it on a Nested Label die-cut and for some gorgeous detail, the petals and leaves were ‘coloured’ with Wink of Stella.
  • Finally, some Whisper White twine was wrapped around and tied in a bow for a little visual interest.

I left the front without a sentiment which I will then add to the inside instead.  It is a simple design in an elegant colour, my Happy colour,  which can lend itself to birthday, congratulations or just a simple hello!

I hope you enjoyed my project today in a more muted shade. That’s the thing about Stampin’ Up colours, there is something for everyone!  Do hop along to our next contributor, Diana, the Celtic Stamper, by clicking on the arrow below to see what her Happy Colour is!
