Stampin’ Creative Blog Hop – Summer Days

By | May 28, 2020

Welcome to May’s Stampin’ Creative Blog Hop where our theme this month is Whatever the Weather.  We have been blessed with some beautiful weather which has given us one less thing to complain about!  In the UK and Ireland, there is one thing we love to moan about and that is usually our miserable weather.  Thankfully, considering everything else that the Gods have thrown at us these past few months, miserable weather hasn’t been one of them. With that in mind, I have chosen to showcase the fabulous new host set, Summer Days.  It is a beautiful line drawn set, perfect for colouring with your chosen medium.

Without further ado, here is my card.  Isn’t the set so cute?  As the stamp set will only launch on June 5th, I can’t include a link to it in my product list below but you are going to love it.

Tips and Tricks for my Summer Days card:

  • Use an aqua painter to pick up some ink either from the kid of the ink pad, or if you’re not fond of a messy ink pad, tap the edge of the pad onto a clear block and pick the ink up from there.  You can then wipe the block clean when you are finished – no mess! Don’t forget to use Watercolour paper or Shimmery White cardstock
  • There are no real rules for watercolouring, it’s not my forte, but just go with it.  You can be as precise or as fluid with your brush strokes as you like. Either way, with images like these, the results will be fab
  • I’ve highlighted the Granny Apple Green from the tree  using a mat in this colour.  It’s not necessary but it also helped ‘ground’ the image and keep it from warping as it had an extra layer.
  • You may not recognise the sentiment as it’s not from a stamp set.  It’s from the #sharesunshine charity PDF – though it may have been doctored a bit.  You can get yours here, 100% of the proceeds go to WHO Covid Charities.
  • Finally, I scored the base card as a subtle embellishment and added some linen thread to finish it off.
  • Of course, don’t forget the inside which got an extra step of the boy flying his kite.

I do hope you enjoyed my Summer Days project today. Do hop along to everyone in the group, we will have some fantastic inspiration for you as always.

Exciting Class News

Before the Covid-19 crisis, I used to hold Cards and a Cuppa session in The Bull Hotel in Fairford. Unfortunately, The Bull is closed and we are no longer permitted to hold our group sessions but from this Friday, I am bringing Cards and a Cuppa back as a weekly session over on my private members Facebook group. Simply register by Sunday night, and I will send you out the pack to make 2 fabulous cards.  We will ‘meet’ online Fridays at 2pm – it would be lovely to have you with us.  Any questions, do get in touch

That’s all for today, until next time,

Happy Crafting
