We are just back from a fabulous weekend at Stampin’ Up’s Onstage 2019 in Telford. As it was my daughters’ birthday on the Sunday, I only stayed one night so it was a very fun-filled 24 hours!
The lovely, Jennifer Holland, a visiting demo from the US organised a fancy card swap. I chose to create a Tropical Chic birthday card as I knew this set was carrying over to the new 2019-2020 Annual catalogue. I do love this bundle and have used it before here. My colour inspiration came from our Glitter Enamel Dots. The colours went so well with the tropical theme.
I used the Sponge Brayer to colour strips of Whisper White Cardstock; the bottom half in Gorgeous Grape and the top half in Melon Mambo blending them together in the middle. The result is gorgeous! I then die-cut the Happy from Happy Birthday trimming the words with snips where necessary. This die is retiring so if you’ve been wavering now is the time to go for it!
Colouring with Sponges
To get the two-tone effect on the flowers, I stamped into Melon Mambo and then edged the stamp in Gorgeous Grape with a sponge dauber. The leaves were created in the same way. I used Granny Apple Green and then sponged the edges with Shaded Spruce before stamping onto Whisper White cardstock.
My flowers and leaves were all die-cut with the dies in the Tropical high bundle. While the stamps and die are carrying over, they will no longer be available in a bundle. If you want to save 10%, then do consider purchasing it before our new catalogue goes live in June. It’s hard to see in the photo but the top layer is embossed with the Subtle embossing folder.
I hope you enjoyed today’s creation. I’ve decided to send this card to one of you. Just leave a comment and I’ll draw a name from one of the comments on Monday. Do leave your email address so I can get in touch with you.
As always I have the products I used listed below as well as the Rainbow Rewards shopping code for this month. I’ve also included a link to all the products that are retiring in the next few weeks. These are on a ‘while stocks last basis’ so don’t delay if one of your favourites is on that list.
Eimear: I was thrilled to receive this card at the Fancy Card swap in Telford. I featured it on my blog and linked back t your post. This card is awesome!
